Andy Priaulx has had many highs in his motorsport career, and another one is coming up with his chance to race with the legend Sir Chris Hoy in the team that also runs his son, Sebastian. The Multimatic Motorsports team has entered triple world champion Andy alongside Chris, the most successful track cyclist in history, in a Ford Mustang GT4 in the round of the British GT Championship at Spa-Francorchamps on the 20th/21st July. This is the team that is running Andy’s son, Sebastian, in the championship and it means the father and son will be racing against each other for the first time. A delighted Andy said: “This is a real privilege for me. I can’t thank the team enough for inviting me to drive with Chris in the number 19 car alongside Sebastian in his usual number 15 with Scott Maxwell. While we will be racing against each other, I don’t see this as rivalry but a fantastic opportunity to help Seb and the team that is fighting for the championship. I have a bit of experience behind me so hopefully I can help them with such things as data!” While Andy has raced against Chris this is a new venture for them to be team mates. “I am a great admirer of Chris and have followed his cycling career over many years. He has come to motorsport and showed that he can be just as competitive on four wheels as two. To say I am excited about this project is an understatement,” said Andy. Andy is a great fan of Spa and last raced on this 7.004 Kilometre (4.352 mile) Belgian circuit on the 5th May in his Ford GT in the penultimate round of the FIA World Endurance Championship Super Season.
